Newsletter March 2007
The board met on March 5. It was decided to
hold our Annual Meeting at the Ned Dimes Marina at Compo Beach on
Sunday June 3 and welcome new
members and kick off the beach season. This
is a family event and children are very welcome.
The Board will invite a representative from the
Town’s Emergency Preparedness Management to attend the meeting
and brief members on emergency issues.
Also please mark your calendars for CBIA’s
Annual Potluck & BBQ on Sunday September 9.
The membership renewal forms will soon be
mailed to members. If you know of any neighbors in the area who are
not members please invite them to join the CBIA. The membership dues
will remain the same as last year at $25.
At the request of members, this year’s
membership renewal form will include
a section where you can indicate whether or not you agree to
have you name and contact information appear in a directory. This
directory will be distributed electronically to members only.
The board has been approached by a number of CBIA
members regarding
the problems caused by recent rainfalls. The problems
seem to be the result of the change of grading in connection
with construction of new homes and subsequent landscaping which
has changed the topography of the Compo Basin. While
this is not a flooding problem it has contributed to material
damage because of excessive runoff.
The board is contacting the First Selectman
asking him to invite all relevant town officials, who are part of
the decision process to a meeting with concerned CBIA members. The
objective of this meeting is for the town to
explain how the rules and regulations work in this regard, how they
are followed up over time and possible remedial
measures. Members will be advised of the date, time and place of
this meeting as soon as it is set up.
Attached to this newsletter you will find a
contact list for Board members. Please feel free to contact any of
the Board members with your concerns and questions.
